PURE JOY is a project space founded in 2016 by artist and Marfa resident, Meghan Gerety. Initially inspired by John Baldessari's 1986 text painting, the concept has evolved from nihilistic question to true reflection of the pure joy inherent in Marfa and life if you let it. The space was first housed in an iconic, historic fuel-storage depot (2016-2020) renovated by Gerety, beside the Union Pacific RR tracks that run straight to downtown Los Angeles.
